If you are currently a college student, you definitely loved Vine in high school. It was one of the first “app” social medias to come out in 2012. These looping 6 second videos is a way for users to express themselves in a creative way, but also showcase memories of events in someone’s life.

Or you could just be really funny to make your vine go viral…😂

With recent news this week, Twitter announced that there will be no more Vine.

NO MORE VINE?! This is crazy and people are really upset about it.

This week there has been numerous articles backlashing Twitter and creating conversations about how upset they are that this platform is no longer going to be alive.

Check out this article in the New York Times about people’s feelings towards the ending of Vine.

So, where are all the Viners going to go? In an article in Digiday, people are now starting to veer toward Snapchat. But, do you think that true Vine fans are actually going to utilize a new platform after their favorite one just got taken away from them?

I personally don’t think so. Yes, the Snapchat numbers may go up, but aren’t they already increasing daily?

Here are some crazy statistics that might actually blow your mind:

  • According to DMR, Vine has over 200 MILLION users. Snapchat only has around 100 million.
  • Each month, there are over 100 MILLION Vines that people watch.
  • There is more than 1 BILLION Vine loops A DAY.
  • 71% of Vine users are millennials, and 28% are 18-24.
  • There are 5 Vines Tweeted every SECOND.

Overall, Vine has had an outstanding impact on it’s users. We are sad to see it go, but very interested to see what happens next. This may be one door closing, but who knows maybe another one will open. We will miss you, Vine.

Long live Vine!
